Dolores Dei is the most well known Innocence, and the figurehead of Dolorianism. An innocence is the highest category of historical personage in the world, a literal personification of History. Traditionally, an innocence, when anointed, assumes supreme rule over the Occident, or the known world in general -- at least the parts that matter. She originated many modern institutions, launched several successful expeditions, and was even critical of the innocentic system itself. She is also known for her beauty and inhumanity. Dolores Dei has become widely regarded as the greatest innocence in the current century.
Dolores ruled three hundred years ago, in the wake of the discovery of the Insulindian isola by explorers from the continent of Mundi. She is, among other things, the innocence of interisolary travel and the connected world. She was a woman of the court, the wife of an influential *marchese*, and eventually the principal advisor to Irene La Navigateur, Queen of Suresne (modern day Sur-la-Clef).
Although she is often considered to be the greatest human being to ever live, there *was* something ominous about Dolores Dei -- constantly surrounded by her Therriers... She adored chess, yes -- but also military war games. Dolores Dei often holds a tiny tin soldier between her index finger and thumb -- in icons such as this. She was also blonde, the blondest woman you have ever seen, with green eyes the colour of the Pisantic *mare interregnum*... She was the most socially secluded and least self-aware of all the innocences.
Dora Ingerlund is Harrier Du Bois's former fiancée, personified as Dolores Dei in his mind in-game.
Harrier "Harry" Du Bois was born in ‘07, the last year of the Commune of Revachol, before the Coalition's attack, at a time when the Antecentennial Revolution was still going strong. Harry and the Major Crimes Unit were called to Martinaise to investigate a report of a hanging.
Prior to joining the RCM Harry was a high school gym teacher in Grand Couron.He met Dora Ingerlund, his future fiancée, while the two waited at a bus stop. She inspired him to join the Revachol Citizens Militia at the age of 26. Over his 18 total years of service Harry solved 216 cases with a total of only 3 confirmed kills, an extremely low number for a member of Precinct 41. His impressive ratio of solved cases placed him above 90 percent of officers in the entire RCM, and he reached the rank of lieutenant along with two additional offered promotions, which he declined, instead being granted the title of lieutenant double-yefreitor and retaining his position as head of the Major Crimes Unit in Precinct 41's C-Wing.
Despite his statistics, Harry's intense caseload is implied to have only been made possible through the liberal use of stimulants and other drugs, namely alcohol, which led to instability and unpredictable behaviour while on the job.
Approximately six years before the events of Disco Elysium, Dora left Harry and moved to Mirova.Some time in the past, Harry purchased the horrific necktie, which he gradually started to project a hyperactive and self-destructive personality onto, compelling him to dress in increasingly "disco" clothes, and forget his problems through drinking and substance abuse.Jean confirms that Harry has hallucinated his tie talking to him prior to his amnesia. The definite cause of Harry's amnesia is unknown, though he theorizes that it may be a side effect of pale exposure stemming from the two-millimeter hole in the church.
Kim Kitsuragi is a lieutenant of the RCM. He was born in Revachol around '08 to half-Seolite parents; his paternal grandfather and maternal grandmother were from Seol.
Seol, along with Samara, may have been part of the ancient 4,000 year old Seraseolitic civilization.It has maintained a level of distance from the other isolas for over a thousand years, rendering it inaccessible to other nations. Because of this, it gained a reputation of exotic mystery, and the people of the Occident referred to it as the Shao Empire, an unsavoury legend which still persists even in the modern day. Despite its isolation, Seol appears to have been exploited and possibly even colonized by Revachol during the time of the Suzerain, as decorations of Seolite rubies, melchiorite, and lapis lazuli are presente in the noble tombs of La Royaume.In modern times, Seol is one of the nations not under the Moralintern's sphere of influence. Its population is suggested to be around 1 billion people.
Kim has struggled with not being considered Revacholian despite being born and raised in Revachol. He prefers not to associate himself with Seol, instead calling himself a "regular, garden variety Revacholiere.
Kim joined the RCM in '31, at the age of 23, and worked as a juvenile police officer for the next 15 years. He tries to avoid teenagers to prevent setting off the Trauma-and-Stressor Disorder he developed during that time. He was finally reassigned to homicide in '46, at 38. He has solved a total of 102 cases (officially 104).
Some time before his partnership with Harrier Du Bois, Kim had a partner who earned the nickname "Eyes" from having to show Kim things he was unable to see due to his farsightedness. Their partnership ended poorly, and just saying his name aloud saddens Kim. After the Mercenary Tribunal, an Empathy passive check reveals that Glen was not the first person to die in Kim's place, potentially hinting at a tragic end for Eyes.
Roustame Diodore (Mega rich light-bending guy) is a multi-billionaire, speculated to be in the triple digits, residing in a container in the container yard. He has an incredibly high net worth, due to inheriting an enormous sum from his grandmother and proceeding to invest it, with an economic coefficient of over .96 (at least between him and Harrier Du Bois). He is traveling on the cheap, with his entire container shipped from one point to another, in order to prevent being subjected to targeted advertising for luxury items.Due to his wealth allowing him effectively no problems, he believes that material goods are not as important as mental space and time
Acele Berger Acele is one of the anodic dance ravers, along with Egg Head, Noid, and her boyfriend Andre.
Her father was Zemlyaki and an influential member of Revachol's criminal underground. Evrart mentions that he once killed a man with a kebab, leading to the nickname "Mico the Kebab.For a time, her father's wealth enabled her family to live in a mansion in Jamrock, before his competition killed him and forced Acele and her mother to flee and change their names.Acele had a bad relationship with her father, and fears becoming like him.However, Acele still has some fondness for her past; she still whistles Zemlyaki tunesand self-identifies as a "silver bird," a reference to the phrase O pasăre de argint, a Zemlyaki organized crime term for someone who doesn't break under questioning. Acele is a good liar, and proud of this.
She may also consider herself to be from Faubourg like Noid and Andre, though this could potentially be just another convenient lie to hide her identity.
Karl Holtzmann "Noid" is one of the ravers. His nickname is short for "paranoid. True to his name, he's a suspicious person and particularly has issues with authority. He considers sound, color, mechanics, and chemistry to be among the few things he isn't suspicious of.He is a skilled carpenter who carries a toolbox with him. He was formally trained, but left the profession due to issues with the hierarchy and rigidity. He demonstrates a deep familiarity with architectural history and building critique.
Noid's primary political affiliation is the hardcore, considering himself a member of the "hard core psi-dance community." He eschews politics as an "inert complex," considering the real paradigm to be economic. However, he is not a capitalist, objecting to you turning Egg Head into an ultraliberal and calling "caps" suckers. He thinks both the left and right take the wrong approach, and that communism is a "bloodier humanism." In that vein, he considers all Innocences to be thieves of the world spirit's organs, Dolores Dei to have been a mass murderer and humanism and her legacy to be false. He is not a fan of the Coalition of Nations, referring to Coalition Warship Archer as the Big Bad. Noid considers marriage and the concepts of virtue/virginity to be tyrannical,, religion to be false to the core,and divisions like man/woman/child to be arbitrary and restricting. Noid has little to say on fascism, besides also objecting to you making Egg Head one, but as a strict anti-authoritarian is unlikely to be a proponent of it.
